Information for an emergency weather report

We inform you that according to the emergency weather deterioration bulletin, issued on Tuesday 17-05-2022 The weather in the western, central and northern country will show a temporary deterioration from noon on Wednesday (18-05-2022) until the morning hours of Thursday (19-05-2022) with the main characteristics of the locally heavy rains and thunderstorms, which may be accompanied by hail, strong winds and

noticeable drop in temperature. 

More specifically : 

1) On Wednesday (18-05-2022) in places heavy rains and thunderstorms will occur:

a) from the pre-noon hours in eastern Macedonia and Thrace and gradually in central, western Macedonia and the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean.

b) from the afternoon the effects will extend further south and will affect Thessaly, the Sporades, central and northern Evia, central Sterea while temporarily will affect Epirus and western Sterea.

c) At night the eastern mainland will be affected (including Attica).  

On Thursday (19-05-2022), until the morning hours, in places heavy rains and thunderstorms will occur in central Macedonia, Thessaly, the Sporades, the islands of the eastern Aegean, Evia and eastern Sterea. Gradually the effects will weaken. 

2) From the afternoon of Wednesday (18-05-2022) until Thursday (19-05-2022) stormy winds of 7 to 8 Beaufort will prevail. 

3) The temperature will drop significantly in the next two days, from north to south, by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius.

Citizens are requested:

To take into account the Extraordinary Weather Deterioration Bulletin for the safe planning of their movements and activities.

-To follow the instructions of the locally competent bodies, such as Traffic, Fire, Civil Protection

 -Follow the instructions of the Warning Message 112, if it is sent to the mobile phones.
-More details on the evolution of exceptional weather phenomena in the regular weather reports of EMY and on the website of EMY in the electronic address www.emy.gr and EMY's twitter account (@EMY_HNMS).

-To be informed about the prevailing situation and the passability of the road network due to the inflow of flood waters in it on the website of EL.AS. www.astynomia.gr.

- For more information and instructions for self-protection from severe weather phenomena, citizens can visit the website of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection at www.civilprotection.gr.

-In case of emergency, contact the competent Services (Police tel. 100 - Fire Department tel. 199 -Emergency number 112- EKAB 166).
